No Wimpy Chicks

Good Monday morning, friends! I really hope you had a great weekend! Mine was interesting, to say the least. All I can say is – – – life ain’t for sissies! πŸ™‚

This past week I was speaking to the ladies at group and made the comment that we need to be strong….no wimpy chicks allowed! So, I decided to do a little mounting-up, pick yourself up by your bootstraps, dig in and be strong, kind of series.

You see, I know I need to exercise, but my flabby arms still flap around in the wind. And they will continue to do just that until I get off my duff and do something about it. I will remain wimpy until I take the time to do something about it – until I do what I know to do.

So for the next two weeks were going to focus on flexing our spiritual muscles and strengthening our core. We’re going to have a little faith workout! No more excuses – no more whiny, wimpy, excuse-making chicks!

Are you with me? Well, let’s do this thing!

Today, we’ll start with one verse to give some lift to our steps. It’s a familiar verse that calls us to mount up! To rise up! To take flight! To soar above the circumstances! To get caught up in the wind that only God can control and just fly!

Check out how the Amplified gives clarity to this beautiful and fortifying verse:

“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” Isaiah 40:31

What are you waiting for? Who are you expecting to come through for you? Who or what are you placing your hope in?

If it’s not the Lord, then you will remain one wimpy chick!

When you truly wait on/trust in/expect/hope in the Lord, you know who He is – how He relentlessly loves you – you know His plans are good for you – you know His presence is permenant.

Therefore, when you wait upon the Lord, you are trusting Him to fulfill His promises and His will for your life! When you know that, your weary soul finds rest.

Like an eagle who begins its flight in search of a wind tunnel to lift him up – knowing that once he finds it, he will soar, you too should be in search of the Lord’s wind tunnel for your life with the assurance that once you find it (and you will in His time) that you too, sweet friend, will soar!

So strengthen your resolve to keep seeking your next wind tunnel to lift you up! Rest in the Lord and know it’s coming! Mount up on wings like eagles, sweet friend! You can trust Him! And He has not called you to be weak…He has called you to be strong!

What are you waiting for from the Lord? Are you feeling like a wimpy chick in need of a wind tunnel? Do you need to build some spiritual muscles again?

  1. I am with you 100%! I will not be a “wimpy chick”! And yes, I need a wind tunnel. My job keeps me on a rollar coaster and really gets me down if I don't bury my head in scripture and wonderful blogs like yours! Our company has been downsizing for the past year and even though I have 27 years experience, it means nothing any more. We acquired new owners about 3 years ago, so no one is left that knows how hard us “oldies” have worked to make this company what it is today. Most of what I did either is no longer necessary or given to others. It is so discouraging that my destiny is in the hands of someone else. I want to control my own destiny in this world! I'm suppose to have new responsibilities added, but this is June and so far nothing! My sweet husband says “turn it over to God is all you can do”, and I know he is right, it is just so hard. I want to fight back! Yes, I need spiritual muscles, lots of them!! Thank you for letting me vent! It helps! ~Hugs to you~

  2. LOL Love this…wimpy chicks…in need of a wind tunnel! I could always use a good boost to my caboose! Too funny and a great way to word it! Wonderfully done, Stephanie!

  3. Kelly ~ I'm so honored that you “vented” here! We're called to bear one another's burdens, but that can't happen if we don't know what each other is going through. So, please know that I'm praying for you and I'm so glad that ultimately our destiny is in His hands.

As you walk through this, rest assured that the God who created you for His good purpose sees you heart, hears your cry and is working behind the scenes of your life to bring everything about for your good! You are the apple of His eye; He loves you with an everlasting love; you are inscribed upon the palm of His hands and you have not escaped His view…not even for a second!

Excited to hear what God is going to do in, through and for you! πŸ™‚

  4. Lynn ~ I know I don't know you personally, but I know this…you sure ain't no wimpy chick! πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for popping in and being so encouraging! πŸ™‚

  5. Good post, Stephanie! Half the battle IS realizing where we need to grow. The other half, is getting busy! Thanks for the encouragement from this beautiful verse. Have a great week! God bless!

  6. Maria ~ You're SO right! We need to realize where we need to grow and then get busy doing what we need to do to strengthen our faith. Thanks so much for popping in and sharing those encouraging words! Sounds like you're not a wimpy chick! πŸ™‚
