God’s Promise for You – Himself

Photo from Photobucket

I was quite the inquisitive little girl. I remember when I was about five I made my way over to the trunk of a tree that seemed to tower over my head like an oversized mushroom. Curled up in the crevice of the base of that tree trunk was a cute little black fuzzy ball and I had to find out what it was.

As I reached out my hand to pick up the cuddly little creature, a burning pain entered my finger tips and shot up my arm like someone had pierced it with a hot rod iron pipe. It was excruciating!

My momma heard the screams and came running, but I wanted my daddy! Writhing in pain, I bolted to my daddy’s arm, buried my head in his chest and cried like crazy.

The pain was unbearable, but finding refuge in my daddy’s arms made all the difference in the world. Somehow, I just knew everything was going to be okay as long as I was with my daddy!

As they rushed me into the emergency room I desperately clung to him – afraid he might put me down – fearful he may leave me alone. But my daddy never left my side. He clung to me.

The pain didn’t go away because he was with me, but the fear did. His presence didn’t change my circumstances – it just changed me.

TODAY’S PROMISE FOR YOU…
HIMSELF

The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 31:6,8…

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

In Joshua 1:9, we are given this promise…

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

And in Psalm 139:7-12, David said…

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”

I’m not sure what you’re going through right now, but if you’re a child of God, you are not alone. He is with you. He has not forsaken you. He has not forgotten you. He has not turned His back on you.

Your promise today is greater than any other promise you could have.
It is the promise of Himself!

Honestly, what’s bigger than God?

Is your sickness bigger than God?

Is your fear bigger than God?

Is your bad marriage bigger than God?

Is your wayward child bigger than God?

Is your grief bigger than God?

Is your financial crisis bigger than God?

Is your broken heart bigger than God?

Is your lack of employment bigger than God?

Is your loneliness or singleness bigger than God?

Is your difficult child bigger than God?

Is anything you’re going through bigger than God?

Today, sweet sister, let His abiding presence speak peace to your heart. He loves you with an everlasting, everpresent love. He is with you, my friend. He is clinging to you and even if you lose your grip, He will never lose His.

He may not speak peace to your storm right now, He may speak peace to your heart in the midst of your storm. But make no mistake, He is with you in your storm!

He is everything you need – He is all you need. He is with you, and that’s enough. So rest in His presence and trust that His promise of Himself is exactly what you need.

Have you become a child of God and know that the promise of Himself is yours? Has your circumstances clouded your view from your ever-present Heavenly Father? What does the promise of His presence mean to you?

I couldn’t find an original Jason Morant video version, but I love this song and it reminded me of the fact that God promises Himself…always and forever! Hope you’ll click and worship! Click this link if you’re getting this through email and it will take you to the video.

  1. Stephanie, Your story about your daddy overwhelmed me with tears. There are few pictures as poignant as that. That's what I've found in the arms of my Heavenly Father. I can't recall who said this, but it's so true that when we find He is all we have, He truly is all we need. Love you!

  2. Hi Shelly!
It made me really miss my daddy a lot! He was such a gentle man and a good dad!

So thankful for our Forever Father who lets us plunge into His arms any time!

Love ya and am praying for you and your GNO coming up in September!

  3. Oh, my! Stephanie, what stung you? This was wonderful! I loved it! So grateful for those ever-receiving arms of the Father! Bless you!

  4. Hi Lynn!
It was a crazy mean caterpillar! Lesson learned. Never touch something that looks cute and fuzzy. It's fuzzies are really poisonous needle like stingers that can be deadly and are always extremely painful! 🙂
