God’s Promise for You – Strength

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” Isaiah 40:29

I confess I’m a wimp. In my mind I can leap tall buildings with a single bound, put on my bullet proof wrist bands, grab my golden lasso and capture criminals while doing back hand springs all the way to the police station. Okay, so forget the back hand springs, but my mind honestly thinks I’m much stronger than my body knows I am.

I’m just not as strong as I’d like to think I am. Not physically. Not spiritually. Not emotionally. And if you’re honest, you’d have to admit – neither are you, sweet friend.

Life has a way of battering our souls and weakening our resolve. Difficult days cause us to question in the dark what we have always believed in the light. Our painful past can hold our emotions captive and render us ineffective for the cause of Christ. The dailies of life can often discourage us.

We can’t always be strong. Weary happens.

But when we feel like the world is crashing in on us and we can’t even catch our breath, the Lord promises to increase our strength and give us power when we’re weak.

Look at what 1 Corinthians 12:9 says in the Amplified…

“But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and a]”>[a]show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may b]”>[b]pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!”

Are you feeling wimpy today, my friend? Are you weary in the walk, weary in the wait or weary in the war?

Like an electric cord receives power when it’s plugged into an outlet, we receive power when we plug into God’s power source. Basking in His presence, trusting in His Word and seeking His face in prayer – that’s where we find the greatest strength…His strength.

Do you need God to strengthen you today? What are you facing that will require your weakness to be replaced with God’s power? Are you weary in the walk, the wait or the war? How can I pray for you?

  1. Stephanie,

Thank you so much for this. I really neeed it today. I have grown weary and I have been plugging into the source as much as I can. “Life has a way of battering our souls and weakening our resolve”, you can say that again!!! No matter how strong we try to be on the outside, on the inside the walls will soon fall. But without the struggles my relationships with God would not grow. Thank you for being such an encouragement to my weak and weary soul.
