Be Strong

Before we get into today’s life lesson (which was a personally painful one – yikes!), I’d like to introduce you to another Speaker Chick who I know you’ll love! Her name is Erin MacPherson and she’s got a beautiful heart and ministry to expectant and young mothers.

In fact, her debut book is entitled, “The Christian Mama’s Guide to Having a Baby.” So you can clearly see her book reflects her heart.

She’s wise beyond her years and as you pop over to Speaker Chicks to find out more about her, be sure to check out her FREE resources!

And now today’s message, Be Strong….

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.'” 2 Corinthian 12:9

The events of last week offer so many life lessons! I should have known better! I should have been willing to take the time necessary and inch my way into a 3 mile trot instead of jumping in feet first. My heart may have been prepared to give it all I’ve got, but my body wasn’t.

Sometimes we want to serve God like that. We want to dive in to the deep end when we’ve never learned to tread water where we could still touch the bottom.

Like a brain surgeon doesn’t just walk into the operating room and begin performing surgery until she’s been educated and honed her skills – we can’t just step into accomplishing big things for God until we’ve faithfully strengthened our servants heart by doing the small things.

We’re sometimes so focused on the big things that we miss the small things along the way – the necessary building blocks to the final goal.

Becoming who were were created to be happens one obedient step at a time. Each step prepares us for the next.

And we certainly can’t face difficult days well if we haven’t strengthened ourselves in the Word.

Have you strengthened yourself in His Word today? Have you prepared yourself for difficult days by doing some spiritual strength training in the Word and in prayer? Are you missing the small things because your so focused on the big ones?
