Have you ever felt like you were far from God… like maybe He didn’t see or hear you… like maybe He didn’t care about your circumstances?
I think every Christian has. The question is, how do we handle it? What do we do in the midst of it? Who do we believe?
When I was walking through my own wilderness season, I remember feeling so weak, weary and worn out that I thought I just couldn’t take another step.
It’s not easy to keep our chin up and our feet firmly planted when we feel like our world is falling apart. It’s hard to be strong when we’re at our weakest and nothing seems to make sense. It’s so taxing to try to keep moving forward when we just want to collapse under the weight of it all.
But God’s Word is packed with promises that can not only sustain us through each trial, but help us thrive in the midst of it!
Today’s promise to cling to comes from Isaiah 40:27-31. Take a few minutes to watch the video and then consider the significance of each word of that power-packed promise. It’s for you, sweet friend! It’s for you!
Shouldn’t those verse change the way we act and react to life when we believe that they are not only true but they are for us?
I mentioned to you about my own wilderness experience, but what I didn’t tell you is the rest of the story…
You see, I was on my way to speak and I honestly had nothing to give. I was physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted. I honestly felt like I was going to collapse. I had been struggling with some issues (and ain’t it the truth that we ALL have issues?!) and I just was at the end of my proverbial rope.
Not a good place to be when you’re stepping onto a platform to speak words you hope will be life to those who are listening.
And so I cried out to God something like this, “God, You see me! I’m a mess! I have absolutely nothing left to give and no power to give anything at all! I’m SO tired! I’m SO weary and I have to do this thing! But I can’t! I need You, Lord, to help me… to strengthen me… to give me words from your heart to theirs because I am SO empty! Sustain me through this message and help me be so full of you that my weariness will be turned into a passionate message from You!”
And He did! Oh, yes, sweet friends, He did!
I stepped out of the car and entered the doors feeling like I was going to collapse. I stepped behind the podium feeling like nothing could stop me! My Jesus did that for me! He mounted me up like eagles wings and He caused me to run and not faint. My Jesus caused me to soar above my circumstances and even above my phyisical exhaustion and He used me for His glory. Only the Living God can do that!
You see, it doesn’t matter if you have nothing left or not… He is all you need. So trust Him. What are you going through right now that is causing you to cling to this promise? Have you ever experienced Jesus giving you wings like eagles and causing you to soar above your circumstances?
