You Are Always On His Mind

This week, my oldest sprained his ankle pretty badly. It looked like it had been broken, but it was a severe upper ankle sprain and the doctor said it would take at least three weeks to heal. As soon as I heard he was hurt, I scurried out the door and quickly made my way to where he was waiting for us to pick him up.

My nest may be empty and my boys may be men, but my heart still considers each step they take. They may be adults, but I have never ceased being their mother and they are constantly on my mind, in my heart and in my prayers.

I’m still their biggest cheerleader and I still long for them to become all they were created to be. I hurt when they hurt and I laugh when the laugh.

I began to think about how much our Heavenly Father must think of each of us. If I, in my frail, limited, humanity am constantly thinking about my boys, how much more does our perfect and holy Heavenly Father think about His children.

How much more does He care when we are hurt. How much more is His heart moved with compassion when we are weary, worn out or wandering. How much more does He long to comfort us and give us guidance. How much more does He love us!

Psalms 139:17-18 in the Amplified says…

“How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awoke, [could I count to the end] I would still be with You.”

If my children are always on my mind, how much more are we always on His mind!

He is constantly molding us… shaping us… working on us to become who He created us to be. We are clay in the Potter’s hand and He never releases His grip.

I don’t know where you are or what you’re going through, but you haven’t escaped His view for a minute. He loves you with an everlasting love and you are always on His mind.

  1. Thank you for this reminder. Tears streamed down my face as I read. Obviously needed this reminder today, more than I first realized. Love you! <3

  2. Isn't it funny, but ometimes I just need to be reminded of what I already know. So thankful He doesn't overlook me because distracted by the events of the Universe. He sees us and knows exactly what we're going through!

  3. You're right Steph, sometimes we do need to be reminded of what we already know. And, today it hit me at a most tender moment. God is SO amazing.

  4. Oh yes! Yes!!! I get that!!!
Love how parenting shows us GOD's heart. Love Love it!

  5. Kathy ~ Thanks for popping by! You're so right. And our very finite view and human attempts to parent don't even come close to the perfect and loving Father He is! 🙂
