Praying the Prodigals Home – 2

But now this is what the Lord says:
“Do not weep any longer,
for I will reward you,” says the Lord.
“Your children will come back to you
from the distant land of the enemy.
There is hope for your future,” says the Lord.
“Your children will come again to their own land.”
Jeremiah 31:16-17

Every mom who has ever had a prodigal understands the deep pain and longing in their heart to see their prodigal return home. It’s time to claim God’s promises like never before and ask Him to be who He says He will be and do what He says He will do.

He is God. The Almighty, Sovereign, Creator of the Universe.

But He is also our Heavenly Father… He defines love by the essence of His being and as much as a momma loves her prodigals, God loves them more.

So pray like crazy sweet mom and stand back and see the Lord deliver your children from bondage and part the Red Sea of salvation for them!

If you’re a mom who is praying for your prodigal, you know that sometimes it’s hard to even know what to pray. Words often elude a broken hearted momma.

As we go through this series, I want to offer you some focused prayer topics with relevant Scriptures so that when you don’t know what to pray, you will not only be prepared to pray but also able to wield the weapon of God’s Word as you claim His promises to be who He said He will be and do what He says He will do.

Today, as we look at what many refer to as The Lord’s Prayer but is more accurately named The Model Prayer, let’s focus on praying for the prodigals according to the words Jesus offers us in this very concise by powerful prayer.

“Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13

For the list of prodigals below, please pray that:

  • They will esteem God’s name as holy
  • They will be led according to God’s will and not their own
  • They will experience God’s provision and know that it came from His loving hands
  • They will experience God’s forgiveness and extend forgiveness to others
  • They will not be led into temptation by anyone or anything
  • They will be delivered from the evil one and from everything that would hold their hearts captive
  • They would declare that God reigns over all… that His is the Kingdom, the power and the glory…FOREVER.
Here are the names of the prodigals we are praying for:

I want to thank every mom who was willing to add her children to the list. And I also want to thank the moms who have committed to pray. The beauty in this is that although we may not know one another in real life, we are agreeing together in prayer and our real God hears the cry of our joint prayers.

So don’t give up and don’t give in. There is power in prayer, sweet moms because we are seeking the face or our powerful and loving Father! So pray on!

If you haven’t added the name of your prodigals to the list, please be sure to do so and we will add them to list posted on Friday. And you will have other mommas joining you in prayer as we pray our prodigals home.

  7. Stephanie, I found your site on FB through my friend, Pam Farrel. I am a prayed for prodigal who came home in my 40s. Your ministry will encourage many moms to never give up. I am God's proof of his faithfulness to a pastor and his wife that He hears the prayers of his beloved for their lost children! May He multiply and bless the work of your hands and heart!
