Grab the Leash and Let’s Go!

God has blessed me beyond measure with women who inspire me and you know I LOVE sharing the ministries of those who are truly living out loud for Jesus! Well, today I’m honored to share with you a devotion by my sweet friend, Lisa Buffaloe, as well as introduce her new book. She is truly an amazing woman of God whom I respect and admire tremendously! So enjoy getting to know more about her new book and then allow the Lord to use her devotion to speak to your heart right where you are. I know that’s the biggest desire of her heart… that God would use her to encourage yours!

Lisa Buffaloe’s current release is Grace for the Char-Baked. With “Char” as a nickname, Charlotte Wilson’s cooking skills are more incendiary than culinary. Charlotte is the last person on earth who should run a bake sale. But when her plans of running in a charity marathon are side-lined by a broken foot, her old flame’s suggestion becomes a challenge amidst her friend’s simmering doubts.

Luke Hammond has spent the last five years studying and preparing to travel overseas as a medical missionary. When his high school sweetheart unexpectedly comes back in his life, Luke wrestles with what he feels God calling him to be and what he wants to do. His reappearance rekindles an attraction that could char Luke and Charlotte’s heart or cook up the perfect romance.

AND NOW FOR A DEVO BY LISA….

“And the Lord will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire in scorched places, and give strength to your bones…”(Isaiah 58:11 NAS)

Our little dog can’t wait to get out the door for a walk in the neighborhood. He doesn’t care where he’s going—he just wants to get there as fast as possible. Pulling against his leash, he coughs and hacks his way down the sidewalk. Pull … cough …. tug …. hack …. the pressure continues as he sniffs, paws, and explores the world.
Chipper has a love/hate relationship with his leash. He loves the walk, but would prefer to run free. He doesn’t realize his leash is not for punishment. He thinks every dog will be his friend, not realizing he is but an appetizer for a big dog. Chipper doesn’t realize a pleasant pace can be had without pressure if he will just stay close. His training will continue until he learns to walk at a pace with his master while we gently lead him safely to his destination.
I’m as guilty as the dog. Thinking I know the best plans, I’ve plowed ahead and then wondered why on earth I was struggling and running into all kinds of problems and difficulties. Or I’ve complained about the unbearable pressure of life’s pace, begging God to give me extra slack so I can go my own way. “Come on God … pull, let’s go … cough, wheeze.”
An intimate relationship with God gives us direction in our daily walk without angst or worry. God knows the safest paths. Fluidity in our lives comes by knowing God’s word and His character. Constant guidance comes from consistent contact.
The Psalmist tells us … “The steps of a man are established by the Lord, and He delights in his way. When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong, because the Lord is the One who holds his hand” (Psalm 37:23-24 NAS).
God is intimately acquainted with our ways. He is a loving Father who knows the best way to bring us safely home. Trust Him, relax, and enjoy the journey. You couldn’t be in better Hands.

could it be that he is mighty enough to light your path?” ~ Max Lucado

Lisa Buffaloe is a joyfully in love with God, Christ follower, blogger, speaker, radio host for Living Joyfully Free Radio, and a happily married mom of a son in college. She writes, “I’m not a perfect wife, perfect mother, or perfect at anything. I’ve made stupid mistakes, sinful mistakes, and often traveled down the wrong roads. God never gave up on me, never let go, and He welcomed me home when I stumbled back seeking His
grace.”

Lisa’s past experiences–molestation by a baby-sitter, assault, rape by a doctor, divorce, being stalked, cancer, death of loved ones, seven surgeries, and eleven years of chronic illness from Lyme Disease–have blessed her with a backdrop to share God’s amazing, healing, restoring love.
