Isaiah for the Heart ~ The Promise of His Presence is Powerful

“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Throughout the Word of God we have found men and women of the faith who were afraid to step into their God-given destiny…those who feared the future, were held captive to the past and felt inadequate or unworthy to accomplish God’s will.

My heart resonates with theirs.

Does yours?

I understand what it’s like to be afraid to hear God call me to something bigger than me and feel like I wanted to tuck my tail and run. I get ‘fearful of the future.’ And sweet friends, I can’t tell you how many times my messed up past has put shackles on this heart of mine…or how many times I knew I was inadequate and unworthy.

  • But God’s presence makes all the difference in the world.
  • It is His presence that gives us the power to become who we were created to be.
  • It is His presence that gives us the confidence to do what we know we can’t on our own.
  • It is His presence that frees us from the fears and failures of our past and enables us to boldly go where we not have dared to go before.
  • It is His presence that confirms our inadequacies, yet echoes faith in our hearts and gives us the courage to rest in the truth that it is GOD who works in us to do His will and His good pleasure.

When God called Moses to go toe-to-toe with Pharaoh, He promised He would be with him. (Exodus 3:12)

But when it became more apparent that God was calling him to do more than he was capable of…more than he thought he was ready for…more than he might have been willing to do, Moses began making excuses, desperately trying to explain to the Living God why he wasn’t really the man for the job.

Have you ever done that? You feared what God was calling you to, so you began to give God your long list of excuses.

Me too!

But God didn’t release Moses from the call…He only promised that the call He was placing on Moses’ life also came with the promise of His presence.

Moses headed the call and was able to experience the presence and power of God in a way that would have not been possible if he would have said no.

The promise of God’s presence comes with the reality of His power.

There is a sweet assurance in knowing that God is with us no matter where we are, no matter what we go through, no matter how fearful we are, no matter how inadequate, unworthy or invisible we feel…no matter what – God is with us and that makes all the difference in the world.

Precious sister, I don’t know what you’re going through or what you’ve been through. I don’t know what God is calling you to or what God has delivered you from…but I know the promise of His presence is enough.

In Matthew 28:18-19, Jesus commissioned His disciples with this assurance of His presence…

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen”

His power and presence is a promise to His children. But He not only goes with us, He goes before us and when we abide in Christ, we can move forward with confidence because His divine presence has paved the way.

“But you will not leave in haste
    or go in flight;
for the Lord will go before you,
    the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12 (NIV)
