I had heard it before.

That song. You know the one. It goes like this… “Nobody knows, the trouble I’ve seen. Nobody knows my sorrow!”

Yeah! THAT one! It’s the one just about every pastor’s wife on the planet has sung at one time or another. Me included.

But ain’t it the truth?! SO much happens in the body of Christ.

SO many different personalities, and people with problems, and needs, and demands, and expectations, and preferences, and complaints, and… well, you get the picture. And then there are the goats. Oh…they’re dressed in sheep’s clothing – they even sound like sheep, but they’re really goats who have no heart for Christ or desire to serve Him or the body of Christ.

Not in the church I attend, mind you 😉  but in THE church!

It’s not easy being a pastor, or being in the ministry…and being a pastor’s wife isn’t for the faint of heart.

But I LOVE being in ministry. Before my man became a pastor, we had been in full time ministry for ten years. We were missionaries. I’ve always had a heart for ministering to the hearts of pastors’ wives because I’ve watched what they go through long before I ever became one.

And it’s a burden they often have to carry alone, and deal with things in the silent places of their heart. It can be a very lonely place…and a very hard place. And if a pastor’s wife isn’t careful, she can become hard too.

So, when my friend, Rhonda Rhea emailed me about her book for pastors’ wives and invited me to share a little ditty in chapter 14, I was not only honored but thrilled to be part of something so near and dear to my heart.
