SO sorry I missed yesterday, sweet friends! It was DAY 16 of our 30 / 30 Challenge and it was a really rough one for me!
We spent the weekend taking care of our gentle giant of a dog who injured himself doing who knows what and ended up paralyzed. It was a difficult weekend and yesterday was super sad when we were finally able to get him to the vet and were told they needed to put him down. And I’m also dealing with some health issues, so it’s been one of those weeks already.
I apologize for missing yesterday! But sometimes in life, we get off kilter and we miss our time with the Lord, don’t we? This is such an example of that.
But if we don’t get right back to it, it’s easy to keep missing and the next thing you know, the days turn into weeks, and the weeks turn into months.
The 30 / 30 Challenge isn’t meant to make us feel bad when we miss, but to give us the umph to get back to it when life throws us a curve ball.
Today, we start Galatians. Sorry I missed Esther 9 – 10 though!
MY TURN:
What you read in the book of Galatians is Paul’s letter to the church in Galatia. He is dealing with their leaning towards legalism. Trying to cause the Gentiles to keep the ceremonial laws as if they were Jewish. Paul’s letter is a defense of living by faith, not by the works of the law.
But the Bible says, if we love Him, we will keep His commandments.
How are we free from the law, yet our obedience to it is a demonstration of our love for Him?
We still keep the moral law of God. In fact, the Bible tells us that He has etched those laws on the hearts of all who know Him.
But we can get caught up in the manmade versions of what we think the Bible says and make doctrines out of preferences. We make up laws and become legalistic in our stances on things that have no basis in Scripture.
Paul is dealing with that sort of thing in Galatians.
YOUR TURN: WHAT HAVE YOU READ IN GALATIANS 1 – 4 THAT HAS SPOKEN TO YOU? HAVE YOU EVER BEEN LEGALISTIC IN YOUR VIEWS AND THEN REALIZED IT WASN’T BASED IN SCRIPTURE?
