WOW! Today is DAY 26 and we are on Colossians 3 -4 in our 30 / 30 Challenge. I realize I’ve been MIA for a few days, but the M.O.M. Initiative Conference has me hopping big time! It’s excited to see what the Lord is doing and each day brings more things to do to prepare for the conference, which is almost a year away.
I’ll share more about that another time, but for now, here’s your journal page if you’re using the downloadable (Journal Your Way through the Word), so go grab your Bible and your pen and get your 30!
MY TURN:
Colossians holds such great encouragement and instruction for us as Christians and today’s focus on chapter 3 and 4 has some very practical help for all of us!
Today, I’m just going to include a few that have helped me over the years and that speak to me now.
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4
Setting our minds on things above can be difficult when we’re smack dab in the middle of the muck and mire of this world. It can even be hard when we’re on the mountaintop. But when we remember that OUR LIFE IS HIDDEN with Christ, we discover that He is our refuge and our hiding place. The one we can trust, lean on, cling to, run to, and depend upon in every circumstance.
But there’s one phrase that speaks very largely to my life…and maybe it does to yours too…
When Christ who is our life appears…
Christ IS my life. And when I’m focused on this world, that means I’m not giving Him the proper place in my life. It’s always a matter of dragging my heart back to the altar of His presence and surrendering to His will. He alone IS my life…my all consuming fire…my greatest love and greatest desire.
This verse calls me to check that throughout the various circumstances of my life! How about you?
In Colossians 3:8 – 3:14 we’re given the PUT ON/PUT OFF principle. It’s a command to be actively engaged in the way we live and to be responsible to live out loud for Christ in a way that honors Him.
You can use the PUT ON/PUT OFF principle in your own life. Make a list of each and place your life under the microscope of God”s Word. What areas in your life need a little spiritual tweaking?
“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech alwaysbe with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” Colossians 4:5-6
One of the thing I know is that I can’t seem to get enough reminders of my need to be careful with the way I live and the words I use. How about you?
And as Paul gives his closing statements in Colossians, her says this…
“And say to Archippus, ‘Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.'”
The call to fulfill God’s call on our lives is a powerful motivator to be all God has created us to be…to do the good works He has pre-ordained that we walk in…to be fervent, zealous, and relentless about the call God has placed on our lives.
That’s how I want to live. How about you?
QUESTION: HOW HAS THESE VERSES SPOKEN TO YOU?
