“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
3 To all who mourn in Israel,
he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,
a joyous blessing instead of mourning,
festive praise instead of despair.
In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks
that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” Isaiah 61:1-3 (NLT)
Life is hard. Our hearts hurt and our world sometimes feels like it’s falling apart.
But Jesus told us in this world we would have tribulation.
But He also said He came that our joy would be full and that He came to give us an abundant life.
In the midst of the pain, Jesus is our Peace. In the midst of our sorrow, Jesus is our Comfort. In the midst of our brokenness, He completes us.
It’s why He came.
To meet the deepest needs of the human heart.
A good study of the names and titles of God demonstrates that who He is, is exactly what we need.
In Isaiah 61:1-3, we find a beautiful, prophetic purpose in the incarnation of Christ.
Read through it and write down every reason He came and then remind yourself that whatever you’re going through…whatever your greatest need…whether it’s peace, joy, comfort, courage, encouragement, faith, freedom, forgiveness, hope or healing…JESUS CAME FOR THAT. He came for you!
It’s your turn…what do you need Jesus to do in your life today?
