Grow Up! Day 4 of Making 2019 the year of MORE

Yesterday, our verses gave us some important instructions to make our journey to MORE are reality. Ephesians 5:14-17 are basically a call to Wake up from our spiritual slumber and to Wake up from living our lives so haphazardly and to live intentionally, knowing what the will of God is.

To live like that, we need MORE time with Jesus. MORE time in His Word. MORE discernment and wisdom. MORE discipline in our lives. And LESS random, responsive living. We need to be dedicated to not just allow life to happen but to make our lives what God has called us to make them.

Day 4 in our journey to Make 2019 the year of more is a call we can’t ignore. It takes us from a call to WAKE UP to a call to GROW UP! Yes… God is telling us to GROW UP!

Check out today’s passage:

Hebrews 5:12-14 (NKJV)
12 For though by this time you ought to be
teachers, you need someone to teach you
again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:12-14 (Amplified Classic)
12 For even though by this time you ought to be teaching others, you actually need someone to teach you over again the very first principles of God’s Word. You have come to need milk, not solid food.
13 For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]!
14 But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses andmental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate anddistinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.

The questions we are looking at are…

  • Have you grown spiritually in proportion to the length of time you’ve been saved?
  • How can you move from milk to becoming more skilled in the Word of God in 2019?

At some point in our spiritual journey we need to realize it’s time to grow up.

The simple truth is, we were created for MORE and MORE doesn’t happen if we’re content to constantly look in the rearview mirror of our walk with Christ, satisfied with what we already know and not realizing there’s SO much MORE that we have still yet to discover.

So, if we want to be women of God and women of the Word who live bold, audacious lives for Christ and experience the MORE Jesus died to give us, it’s time to grow up.

Growing in grace and in our knowledge of Christ and God’s Word is a life time journey, not a one time event.

What about you? Have today’s verses spoken to you about growing up?
