In Ecclesiastes 9:11 Solomon tells us,
“The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.”
I remember researching this verse while I was writing my Bible study on Ecclesiastes and thinking about how comforting they really are.
Life doesn’t always turn out like we think it should. The fastest, strongest and wisest don’t always win. What beautiful words of encouragement for a girl who has never been the fastest, strongest or wisest!
You see, if the fastest, strongest and wisest aren’t always a shoo-in, then that means I’ve got a shot at whatever it is I’m striving for.
Oh, how I love a good underdog story…perhaps that’s because I am one. But aren’t you thankful that time and chance happen to them all?
Today, I want to encourage your heart, sweet sister! You may look around and wonder if you’re ever going to be the one who lands on top? Keep praying and continue to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. You may just be the next underdog to win the victory! (And you just remember…you’re already more than a conqueror!)
Have a great weekend!
And if you haven’t bought my new Bible study yet, I’d love for you to do just that! This study of Ecclesiastes has definitely changed my perspective and helped sift the circumstances of life through the filter of eternity. I believe it will do the same for you.
