Praying the Prodigals Home – A Letter from a Prodigal’s Mom

Today, I wanted to share a sweet letter of encouragement for moms who are praying for their prodigals. It comes for a sweet friend of mine whose prodigal has finally come home after 30 years. Our precious God specializes in doing exceedingly, abundantly above all we can ask. He did it for Sue and He will do it for you. So keep praying and hold on as you watch the Lord move mountains and melt cold, hard hearts.

Enjoy Sue’s reminder to keep praying for your prodigals until the Lord gives you a break through! You’ll be oh-so glad you did!

Yes, ladies never, never ever give up on praying for our loved ones. It took 30 some years for GOD to get to my son, but He did and it was just awesome to have my son be born years ago – and then to see him born again… well there was just really no words to really describe it except that it was unforgettable. And as an added surprise, he took his children with him to be baptized. GOD IS SO GOOD.

Here is the list of prodigals we are praying for. If you’re new to the blog, please take a few minutes to lift these children up to the Lord as if they were yours and help mothers pray their prodigals home.

For those of you who have a prodigal on this list, please know that other moms are praying and it is an honor to pray with you for them.

If you have a prodigal and you haven’t added them to the list, please do so by listing them in the comment section and I will add them to the list on the blog. It’s an honor to join hearts and hands and pray the prodigals home.

  1. Thank you to all who are praying for my Prodigal sons, Brandon and Daniel! Your support means so much to me. God is at work and I give him the Glory! God Bless you, From a very grateful Mom of a Prodigal.

  2. I'd love to have prayer for Tony, Betsy, Christine, Jennifer, Dana, and David. And some have spouses and children who would benefit immensely! I will remember those on this list as I pray for my own. Thank you so much for your diligence!

  3. Please add my sons Garrett & Cameron to your list. And I will pray for the prodigals with great joy…my name is Tracy.
I just found your blog a few nights ago & my heart was overwhelmed! My sons have made choices that have taken them down very dark roads. But God!!! He has taken the darkness & used it to bring each of us to a place that only HE could bring us to! The boys aren't all the way back yet…but they are ON THEIR WAY!! One of the places He brought me to was a commitment and a plan to pray for others going down this same road. He spoke to me one day through James 1:2 “when trouble comes your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.” He told me…trouble has a name! Write it down and pray! And that's what I did. I started a list called Trouble has a Name. And each time that I'm told about someone who is lost or struggling on this road I add their name. And it has truly brought me joy to pray for them! So when I found your blog about Praying the Prodigals Home…it was like a great big hug from God! Telling me I'm on the right track! Thank you so much for what you're doing! There are a lot of hurting moms out there…thank you for giving them hope and teaching them how to fight through prayer!

  4. Please add my son Spence to the list. Thank you for your prayers. I pray for all the prodigals and parents on this list right now-that God would bring prodigals back.

    • Praying with you for Spence… that the Lord will give him a tender and repentant heart, and that Spence will be saved and become a man after God’s own heart.

  5. I’m praying for all these on the list and all prodigals throughout the world as I pray for my Eric. I pray with a hopeful heart that God will finish the good work He has begun. Please add my son Eric to your list.

    • Thank you so much for joining the moms in prayer for the precious prodigals! Praying with you for Eric that God will finish the good work in Eric and that Eric will be a man who has a heart that beats hard after God… and the Eric will soon walk in the truth and be all God created him to be.

  6. Please pray for Eleanor, Festus, Esther, Miracle and Arianna

    • Praying with you for Eleanor, Festus, Esther, Miracle, and Arianna! That they would be men and women of God who walk in the Truth and live to know Jesus more every day!

  7. Please pray for Chris, Tarah, Dannah, Tom and especially Luke. Thank u. I will also pray for the other children that have gone down the wrong path.

    • Praying with you for Christ, Tarah, Dannah, Tom and Luke! It’s so hard when those we love, especially our children, live contrary to what they grew up knowing is true. Praying for them to turn to the Lord and be saved.
